What Are Prepositions?
Prepositions are words used before a noun, pronoun, or noun phrase to indicate direction, time, place, location, or to introduce an object.
Types of Prepositions
- Prepositions of Place: in, on, at, over, under, between
- Prepositions of Time: at, on, in, during, before, after
- Prepositions of Direction/Movement: to, into, onto, towards
- Prepositions of Manner/Reason: by, with, because of
Examples of Prepositions
Place: The book is on the table.
Time: We have a meeting at 3 PM.
Direction: She is going to the park.
Manner: He completed the task with great care.
Common Preposition Combinations
- afraid of - She is afraid of spiders.
- good at - He is good at solving puzzles.
